Character First in Hamburg Character First in Hamburg began following a town summit on character held in October 2000. The summit served as an opportunity for citizens to have a comprehensive conversation about the definition and importance of good character as a community concern. A key outcome of the summit was the establishment of a nine-member Board of Directors whose goal is to guide character initiatives throughout the Town of Hamburg. These initiatives, engaging all sectors of community life, aim to encourage the embracing of excellence in character for citizens, their families and the community as a whole, by promoting and displaying exceptional character.
